Juventus will take on America in the World Football Challenge

World Football Challenge: Juventus vs. Club América in NYC

“The Old Lady” is headed back to the Big Apple — Queens, to be precise.

Major League Soccer and CAA Sports announced on Thursday that storied Italian powerhouse Juventus FC will participate in this summer’s Herbalife World Football Championship. Their first stop will be at the home of the New York Mets: Citi Field in Flushing, N.Y., to face Mexico City powerhouse Club América on Tuesday, July 26, at 7:30 pm ET.

The match marks Juventus’ return to New York for a second straight year — the Bianconeri dropped in on the New York Red Bulls’ newly opened home last May and were beaten 3-1 by Hans Backe’s men in Harrison, N.J. Juve then made a stop in Toronto, where they lost to Serie A rivals Fiorentina in a friendly at Rogers Centre.

The 27-time Italian champs travel to the US this time with a new manager in former Italian national-teamer Antonio Conte and boast a quintet of squad members from Italy’s 2006 World Cup championship squad: Alessandro del Piero, Gianlugi Buffon, Fabio Grosso, Luca Toni and Vincenzo Iaquinta.

According to the Turin-based club, this match will be one of three exhibitions in a North American tour next month. Juve will base themselves in Philadelphia from July 19 to Aug. 1

Club América, meanwhile, will round out a trio of matches in the World Football Challenge with this tilt — las Águilas also will face FA Cup winners Manchester City on July 16 in San Francisco and European Cup winners FC Barcelona on August 6 in Arlington, Texas.
