AMSTERDAM — Clarence Goodson and Brøndby kept slim Champions League hopes alive with a 2-1 SAS Liga victory at nearby Lyngby on Friday evening.
The Danish giants snapped a three-game winless slide to reclaim third place from beaten FC Midtjylland and pull to within five points of second place Odense BK with two games remaining. Despite a stoppage-time Anders Randrup own goal, Brøndby have now conceded just four times in Goodson's seven starts.
Elsewhere, Chris Rolfe assisted on his side's first goal, but Aalborg BK blew a first half lead to fall 4-3 at Silkeborg.
Aside from setting up Kayke for the first of his two goals, the former Chicago Fire man also forced two fine saves from home netminder Lasse Heinze. Rolfe's last-minute bid to tie the game compelled the Silkeborg backstop into the save of the game.
Despite the defeat, Aalborg are still three points clear of the relegation mire.
