Bunbury's agent nixes French tabloid's transfer claims

Teal Bunbury is raring to go for Kansas City.

AMSTERDAM — The agent for Sporting Kansas City forward Teal Bunbury has shot down a recent French report claiming serious interest from European clubs, stating his client gave no such interview.

In the article, tabloid outlet Top Mercato purports to quote the US international as saying Europe-caliber clubs from England, France, the Netherlands, Spain and Turkey were chasing his services.

Coincidentally, Bunbury has been scouted by teams from a few of those countries. He also trained with Stoke City this winter, but his agent insists there are no deep discussions about a move happening in the foreseeable future.

"He didn't do that interview," Bunbury rep Patrick McCabe told MLSsoccer.com. "There have been several teams to see him and we expect that to continue."

Bunbury has opened his second MLS season by hitting for three goals in his first six league games for Sporting. In 32 regular-season games with Sporting thus far, the 21-year-old Canadian-born forward has notched eight goals and three assists.

Currently in the Eastern Conference cellar, Sporting KC will try to halt a six-game win drought when they visit the Seattle Sounders on Saturday.
