Sporting Kansas City Designated Player Omar Bravo is ready to live in Kansas City for the rest of his life.
The Mexican star made that confession on the latest edition of the FutbolMLS.com podcast Tiro Libre, in which he also discussed the chances of returning from hernia surgery to play against the LA Galaxy this Saturday at the Home Depot Center (10:30 pm ET, Direct Kick and MatchDay Live).

“Whether I play against the Galaxy will come down to how I feel on Thursday and even Wednesday,” said Bravo, who will increase his workload at practice on those days. “I feel good and I have a lot of confidence. But it’s important that I’m not overcome by anxiety and eagerness to play. I have to be intelligent and manage it [return] with caution.”
In the same interview, Bravo talked about the decision to undergo the hernia surgery, the competition at forward in KC, his preference for SKC to keep the 4-3-3, his thoughts on the Galaxy and his predictions for the Mexican liguilla, which has reached the semifinal stage with his former club, CD Guadalajara, still in with a chance for the title.
The Bravo move to Sporting will now likely open the door for more Mexican stars to embark on MLS careers, judging by Bravo’s comments on Tiro Libre. He says he’s been in touch with América’s Pável Pardo, Toluca’s Sinha and other Chivas players, who are entertaining the possibility of a stateside move.
“This league is at a really high level,” Bravos said. “And a small snapshot of that is what Real Salt Lake did against Monterey. With the roster that Monterrey had, Real Salt Lake was able to go toe-to-toe against them. There used to be an ignorance about this league, but not anymore.”
