American Exports: Bedoya scores in Örebro loss

AMSTERDAM — Örebro ace Alejandro Bedoya netted his third goal of the young Allsvenskan season on Friday night, but it was not enough to help the hosts avoid a 2-1 loss to Kalmar.

The US midfielder raced up the gut to accept a pass and slot the equalizer on 25 minutes, surpassing his league goal total from last season after just seven games.

Over in the Jupiler League, Sacha Kljestan and holders Anderlecht may have kissed the title goodbye with a 1-0 defeat at first-place Genk. The former Chivas USA man went the distance, drawing a yellow card with a rough challenge midway through the opening frame. Les Mauves could have pulled level on points with the leaders, but now stand six short of the top with only three games remaining.

Danish SAS Liga action saw Chris Rolfe work the first half of Aalborg BK's 2-1 late show win over visiting Lyngby. After spending much of the season in the cellar, AaB are suddenly sniffing the top half of the table with four matches left.

One level below, Babajide Ogunbiyi led the defense as Viborg catapulted out of the drop zone with a 1-0 home victory against Vejle BK.

Finally, in the Dutch second flight, Charles Kazlauskas notched an assist out of right midfield as Helmond Sport tuned up for the promotion playoffs with a 5-1 closing night cruise past Telstar. The third-place finishers have a first round bye before matching up with FC Zwolle in one promotion semifinal.
