HOUSTON – Houston Dynamo captain Brian Ching was held out of Monday's training session following an apparent rib injury suffered during this past Saturday's 1-1 draw at New York.

Ching came out of the match at the 39th-minute mark of the 1-1 draw at Red Bull Arena following dual collisions with RBNY goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul.

“He took a couple of big hits in the rib area and that’s where we think the trouble is,” said head coach Dominic Kinnear, who added that Ching was being X-rayed on Monday to determine the extent of the injury.

In addition to Ching, center back Jermaine Taylor also missed Monday's training session with plantar fasciitis in his foot, an injury the Jamaican picked up while on international duty. Taylor told MLSsoccer.com that he feels he’s “75 percent” healthy at this point and is being cautious about his return.

“It’s best to get back on the field when you’re 100 percent,” said Taylor. “You want to go back in fit … so I’m taking my time to get as much treatment as I can and get back when I’m full strength.”

Taylor is hopeful to return for Sunday’s home match against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
