American Exports: Guzan, Hull City blank Derby

Brad Guzan notched his first win with Hull City.

AMSTERDAM – A handful of Americans suited up in the English League Championship on Tuesday, with Hull City netminder Brad Guzan pulling off a pair of late robberies to preserve a 1-0 victory at Derby County.

The Aston Villa loan item tallied five stops, including win-savers on Daniel Ayala and Ben Davies, as the Tigers extended their unbeaten run to nine games. Guzan goes into the books as backstop for Hull's first-ever victory away to Derby, for whom Conor Doyle was an unused sub.

Leeds United loan defender Eric Lichaj made a late line clearance to preserve the home side's share in a wild 3-3 derby draw with Barnsley.

Eddie Johnson worked a quiet 58 minutes as Preston North End withstood some harsh luck to escape Nottingham Forest with a last-gasp 2-2 equalizer.

Fifth-place Norwich City got 90 strong minutes from defender Zak Whitbread, but a late Adam Drury own goal forced the hosts to settle for a 1-1 draw with visiting Doncaster.
