KC's Bunbury sidelined for up to a month

Sporting Kansas City's Teal Bunbury is back on US soil after a wild month in Spain and England.

Sporting Kansas City’s second-year forward Teal Bunbury will be out for 2-4 weeks after suffering an elbow injury in a preseason match Tuesday against the Houston Dynamo.

The injury occurred in a collision with Dynamo defender Andrew Hainault.

The diagnosis is a dislocated elbow. There was no nerve damage and were no fractures, which could have led to Bunbury being shelved for up to five months.

Bunbury is likely to play a crucial role in manager Peter Vermes’s 4-3-3, and alongside veteran Kei Kamara and Designated Player Omar Bravo was a presumed starter. He’d also spent time with the US national team this offseason, scoring his first international goal against Chile in January.

With Bunbury on the sidelines, first-round 2011 SuperDraft pick C.J. Sapong, Danish trialist Adda Djeziri, and holdovers Birahim Diop and Chance Myers will all get a chance to fill the void up top.
