American Exports: Cervi joins Dundee FC on loan

Dom Cervi was part of the US U-23 set-up before the 2008 Olympics and has been at Celtic for two years.

AMSTERDAM – Celtic FC goalkeeping apprentice Dominic Cervi has been loaned out to second-flight Dundee FC for a month.

Due to injury to back-up netminder John Gibson, the Dark Blues have temporarily grabbed the 24-year-old American to act as emergency cover for starter Rab Douglas.

Cervi arrived on Friday, just in time to dress for the sub's bench in Saturday's 1-0 win at Grennock Morton.

"He's just here for a month," Dark Blues press officer Laura Hayes told MLSsoccer.com by phone. "Our second goalkeeper has a shoulder injury and he was brought in as cover."

Cervi, the 2008 first round SuperDraft pick of the Chicago Fire, has dressed several times for Celtic this and last season without ever making his competitive professional debut.

Third-place Dundee are unbeaten in seven and will carry a three-game win streak to Raith Rovers on Wednesday night.
