American Exports: Boca nets first for St.-Étienne

AMSTERDAM – A trio of US internationals clocked in across the ocean on Sunday night, with Carlos Bocanegra scoring his first Saint-Étienne goal in a 2-2 draw with Bordeaux.

The left back nodded home a cross in the 69th minute to put the hosts up for the first time in the game, but Les Girondins eventually evened it up a minute from time.

Premier League action saw Jonathan Spector back in the West Ham United midfield for a solid 90 minutes in their 1-0 defeat at Sunderland.

Over in Belgium, Sacha Kljestan went the full 90 as Anderlecht held onto first place in the Jupiler League with a 2-1 victory at Zulte-Waregem.

Finally, in La Liga, Jozy Altidore watched from the sub's bench as Villarreal edged Sevilla 1-0 to stay third in Spain.
