With two games left in the regular season, the Colorado Rapids lead the Kansas City Wizards by six points for the eighth and final playoff berth. Kansas City have a 1-0-1 record in MLS play against Colorado, meaning the Wizards will win a tie-breaker if the teams finish level on points.
Colorado have a tough schedule to close out the season. The Rapids travel to the Home Depot Center this weekend to take on the Western Conference leading LA Galaxy, before closing out the season at home against Rocky Mountain Cup rival Real Salt Lake. Colorado have been eliminated by RSL the past two years on the last game of the season.
The Wizards must win their remaining two games of the season, on the road against the New England Revolution and at home against the playoff-bound San Jose Earthquakes in order to have a chance of going to the postseason.
