Castillo to miss Fire's match against Galaxy

Nery Castillo will not make his Chicago Fire debut this Sunday against the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Newly signed Designated Player Nery Castillo will not suit up for the Chicago Fireā€™s matchup Sunday night against the Los Angeles Galaxy at the Home Depot Center, as his International Transfer Certificate has not yet been received.

Castillo, who was introduced to the Chicago media on Thursday, is likely to make his debut when the Fire host Thierry Henry and the New York Red Bulls on Sunday, Aug. 8 on ESPN2.

Castillo became the second DP in Fire history earlier this month, joining a lineup that includes All-Stars Marco Pappa and Wilman Conde and three-time World Cup veteran Brian McBride. Castillo will wear jersey No. 10, following the footsteps of Chicagoā€™s first DP signing, fellow Mexican Cuauhtemoc Blanco.

Castillo is expected to play in the role either of attacking midfielder or up top with McBride when he makes his debut. The Fire are 4-5-5 this season and currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
