The Chicago Fire announced that they will host their third round match of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Toyota Park on Tuesday June, 29.

The Fire, which have won the Open Cup four times in 12 years, will play the winner of the June 22 second round match between USL-2 club Charleston Battery and USSF Division 2 side Carolina RailHawks.

ā€œThe team is looking forward to this match and has its eye on capturing yet another U.S. Open Cup title,ā€ Fire Technical Director Frank Klopas said in a press release. ā€œWeā€™ve been fortunate enough to have a very successful run with this Cup over the last 12 years and our players are hungry to bring it back to Chicago.ā€

The decision to play the match at Toyota Park differs from what the Fire have done in past years, when they have hosted early round Open Cup matches in Peoria, Ill.

If the Fire advance beyond the third roundā€”something that they failed to do last yearā€”they still could host a match in Peoria.
