Lahoud eligible to take field vs. undefeated Crew

Lahoud: "I'm excited to be back and I want to win."

After serving a two-match suspension that kept him out of Chivas USA’s matches against New England and Houston, Michael Lahoud is eligible to take the field when his team faces off against undefeated Columbus at Crew Stadium.

“Being out for a while, you always come back with a little more hunger,” said Lahoud. “I’m excited to be back and I want to win.”

Though he didn’t receive a card on the play, the league’s disciplinary committee issued Lahoud a two-game suspension and a $500 fine after a hard tackle on Chicago Fire’s Justin Mapp on May 1.

“It’s a terrible feeling, but I respect the league’s ruling,” said Lahoud. “I looked at the replay and it was a bad tackle. It’s a careless play by me, but you live and learn.”

Stepping into Lahoud’s spot at right midfield during his suspension was Gerson Mayen, who looked solid against New England and Houston.

Lahoud has traveled with Chivas USA to Columbus and could play a part in the Goats’ game against the undefeated Crew on Saturday. The Red-and-White will be anxious to get back to their winning ways after last weekend’s 2-0 home defeat to Houston.
