New England Revolution midfielder Shalrie Joseph has taken an indefinite leave of absence to attend to personal matters, the club announced on Monday.

The 31-year-old left the club on Saturday and according to a club statement "will return at a later date."

Joseph suffered a hip injury at the beginning of the season and has only played in one of the Revolution's five games this year.

Last season Joseph was a league MVP finalist after scoring eight goals and adding eight assists.
