The Fire will again be without center midfielder John Thorrington for this weekendās game at D.C. United. Thorrington, who said he hopes to return to training at some point in the next week, has been kept out of every game this season due to a quad injury that he picked up in preseason.
āItās terribly frustrating,ā said Thorrington after training on Tuesday. āItās been a very trying process for me to have to watch the first three games. Itās the worst part of our job.ā
Thorrington will likely be joined on the injury list this weekend by fellow central midfielder Logan Pause. Pause missed last Saturdayās game against San Jose with a left knee injury and hasnāt been able to return to training.
āIām at a point where itās just kind of day by day,ā Pause said. āIām trying to get it better and do all of the appropriate things that I need to do.ā
In other Fire injury news, forward Collins John and midfielder Patrick Nyarko didnāt participate in full training with the rest of their teammates on Tuesday. Both picked up minor injuries in the San Jose game (Nyarko injured his ankle, John hurt his back) and had an abbreviated practice session yesterday morning.
āItās nothing to be concerned about,ā Fire technical director Frank Klopas said of Nyarko and Johnās injuries. āThey were out here today and they did a little bit. I think probably tomorrow theyāll be ready to go.ā
