Reds beat Dallas at Disney Cup

Toronto FC remain unbeaten in preseason after a 1-0 win over FC Dallas in the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic in Orlando Thursday night.

Ugandan trialist Vincent Kayizzi scored the only goal of the game in the 16th minute to give Toronto the win. It was Kayizzi's second goal of preseason.

Kayizzi was one of three trialists starting the match for Toronto along with Argentine midfielder Martin Saric and Gambian international central defender Abdou Jammeh.

Toronto were made to work hard for the win by a Dallas team coming into the game off a win over New England Revolution earlier in the week, and the Reds task was made harder just before half time when central defender Nick Garcia was sent off for retaliation.

TFC coach Preki introduced more trialists in the second half including goalkeeper Milos Kocic who was released by D.C. United last week. Kocic produced an impressive performance between the posts and made a string of excellent saves to keep FC Dallas at bay. Dallas almost tied the game in stoppage time but hit the post with a free kick.

Former Puerto Rico Islanders right back Dan Gargan came in at half time for his fourth appearance of preseason with Toronto. Nigerian striker Peter Ijeh and Dutch forward Ibad Muhamadu also saw action in the second half.

Toronto will now play New York Red Bulls in the final of the tournament on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. The Red Bulls beat Houston Dynamo in a penalty shoot-out earlier in the day. A video feed of the match will be shown live on TorontoFC.ca.
