Wizards announce 'Tickets for Troops' program

The Kansas City Wizards are proud to announce an organizational first with the implementation of its Tickets for Troops program. Tickets for Troops is a program that will allow active duty service members and their families the opportunity to enjoy a Kansas City Wizards match at no cost to the service member or their families.

The Wizards implemented the program as a way to express the Kansas City community's gratitude and appreciation to the active service men and women and their supportive families for the contributions and sacrifices they have made for our country.

"I am thrilled to see this program come to fruition," said Wizards General Manager Curt Johnson. "This is a great opportunity for us as an organization to be able to thank the people who serve our country and bring some joy into the lives of their families during what is a very difficult time."

Through a collaboration with the Missouri Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Red Cross Armed Forces Emergency Services Division, and the Wizards, Kansas City's fans will have the opportunity to donate tickets to a Wizards home game to the families of America's active duty Armed Forces personel. Similar to the Wizards' Kicks for Kids program, individuals and businesses can make a charitable donation that will allow these service members and/or their families to be able to enjoy a night with each other at Arrowhead Stadium.

Beginning next Saturday, May 6th when the Wizards host the Chicago Fire, information booths will be set up outside Arrowhead Stadium explaining the Wizards' new program and its inaugural game that will be held on Saturday, May 27th vs. D.C. United. Fans and businesses can also make a charitable donation to Tickets For Troops by contacting Mark Naster of the Kansas City Wizards at 816-920-4795.

Prior to the start of the inaugural Tickets For Troops match on the 27th, the Wizards will be hosting a silent auction from 5:00-7:15 p.m. in the Arrowhead Stadium Pavilion that will allow individuals to support the program by bidding on memorabilia from the Wizards and other Major League Soccer teams. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Tickets For Troops program. Items to be auctioned will include authentic Wizards jerseys of each player on Kansas City's roster.

Tickets for the program will be distributed to the families by the Missouri VFW and American Red Cross and will continue to be awarded throughout the season with the support of the Kansas City community.
