GALAXY LOOKING TO WIN REMATCH OF 2005 MLS CUP IN VISIT TO NEW ENGLAND ON MAY 6:
Looking to win two games in a row, the L.A. Galaxy travel to New England to face the Revolution on Saturday, May 6 in a rematch of the 2005 MLS Cup. The game will kick off at 1 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on ESPN2, CA$H 1700 AM (English) and KMXE 830 AM (Spanish). The Revolution defeated the Galaxy 1-0 in the season opening game on April 1. The Galaxy enters the match with a 2-2-1 record and sits in third place in the Western Conference with seven points. New England is 1-2-1 with four points and in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

LALAS LIKELY FOR HALL: The National Soccer Hall of Fame is set to announce the results of the 2006 Hall of Fame Elections on Saturday, May 6 at Gillette Stadium. Galaxy President & General Manager Alexi Lalas is a favorite to be one of the newest inductees.

JUST LIKE 1997 FOR SAMPSON AND LALAS: Galaxy President & General Manager Alexi Lalas and Galaxy head coach Steve Sampson will take part in the El Reto Final Nissan on May 21 at 6:00 p.m. PT at The Home Depot Center. El Reto Final Nissan is a reality television series currently airing on Fox Sports En Espanol exploring the history of the Mexico-United States soccer rivalry. On May 21, Sampson will lead a specially selected team of U.S. players like Lalas, Jeff Agoos, Tab Ramos, Eric Wynalda, Tomas Dooley and John Harkes against Bora Milutinovic's Mexican team featuring legends likes Carlos Hermosillo, Roberto Zague, Joaquin Del Olmo, Alberto Garcia Aspe, Luis Garcia and Luis Hernandez.


DONOVAN NAMED MLS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Los Angeles Galaxy forward Landon Donovan was voted the MLS Player of the Week for Week 5 for his efforts in his team's 3-2 victory over Real Salt Lake on Saturday, April 29. Donovan led his team with a goal and two assists, scoring in the 11th minute and then registering two assists. The Major League Soccer Player of the Week is selected every week throughout the MLS regular season by a panel of journalists from the Professional Soccer Reporters Association (PSRA).


VOTE FOR L.A. GOAL OF THE WEEK: Cobi Jones scored his first goal of the 2006 season on a header in the 26th minute. The hard-driving shot is one of the nominees for the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week. Vote for Jones at mlsnet.com.


DONOVAN HOT AGAINST REAL SALT LAKE: Galaxy forward Landon Donovan scored his first goal of the 2006 season on April 29. It was Donovan's fourth goal in five career games against Real Salt Lake.


GOMEZ GETS A GOAL: Los Angeles Galaxy forward Herculez Gomez scored his first goal of the 2006 season, registering the game-winning goal in the 60th minute. The goal was the first regular season goal for Gomez since October 2, 2005.


THIAGO JOINING THE GALAXY: Thiago De Souza, a Brazilian forward signed by the Galaxy on April 6, 2006, is expected to officially join the team on Thursday, May 4 in New England. De Souza was in Brazil awaiting his P-1 visa before he could join the club, and is now anticipated to join Los Angeles for training before the Galaxy take on the New England Revolution May 6. De Souza played with German Bundesliga team Borussia Dortmund before joining the Galaxy.


VERIS GETS DOWN TO BUSINESS: Galaxy defender Kyle Veris made his first career MLS start and appearance against Real Salt Lake April 29. The Galaxy's third round pick from the 2006 MLS SuperDraft played 90 minutes in central defense for L.A.


CRONIN CROWS ABOUT A WIN: Galaxy goalkeeper Steve Cronin earned his first career Major League Soccer victory on April 29 in a 3-2 win against Real Salt Lake. Cronin's only other MLS regular season appearance was September 17, 2005 in a 2-2 tie with Kansas City. Cronin played 90 minutes against Real Salt Lake and made five saves.


GALAXY RESERVES DROP SECOND GAME: The Los Angeles Galaxy reserves dropped their second game of the season on April 30, falling 3-0 to the Real Salt Lake reserves in Utah. Atiba Harris scored two goals for Salt Lake and Christian Jimenez added another as the Galaxy reserves saw their record fall to 1-2-0, 3 points.


FIRST WIN IN UTAH: The Galaxy won its first ever game in Salt Lake City, defeating Real Salt Lake 3-2 on April 29. Los Angeles went 0-1-1 at Rice-Eccles Stadium in their first two visits to the home of the second-year club before rallying from a 1-0 deficit April 29 for the win.


A FIRST FOR BURCH: Galaxy rookie Marc Burch made his MLS and Galaxy debut April 29 against Real Salt Lake, entering as a substitute in the 80th minute for Ned Grabavoy. The Galaxy's second pick in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of Maryland played 10 minutes.


HARTMAN SITS ONE OUT: Galaxy goalkeeper Kevin Hartman did not play in the Galaxy's 3-2 win over Real Salt Lake on April 29. It was just the second MLS regular season game Hartman has missed in the past four years, both times to allow back-up Steve Cronin a chance to play. Hartman had played and started in 104 straight MLS regular season games before sitting out the Galaxy's 2-2 tie September 17, 2005. Hartman has now started and played in 112 of the Galaxy's 114 last regular season matches.


JONES OFF THE BENCH: Galaxy midfielder Cobi Jones did not start the Galaxy's 3-2 win over Real Salt Lake on April 29. It was the first game in 2006 that Jones has not started, and only the 31st time in 36 games that Jones has come off the bench for Los Angeles. Jones scored just 16 minutes after entering the game for an injured Peter Vagenas. The goal was the first for Jones since June 4, 2005, and it was only the second time ever that Jones had scored a goal when entering as a substitute.


GORDON AND BENDITSON GETTING SOME WORK IN: Galaxy forward Alan Gordon and defender Ben Benditson, who have both missed time due to sports hernia injuries are working their way back into practice with the team. Gordon and Benditson are both participating in limited drills and running. Benditson recently went to Germany for a successful surgery to repair his sports hernia.


LEAGUE LEADERS: Galaxy forward Landon Donovan is tied with Dwayne De Rosario for the MLS lead in assists with four.


TWICE AS NICE FOR LANDON: Galaxy forward Landon Donovan recorded two assists against Real Salt Lake on April 29 for his second two assist game of 2006. It was the 10th multi-assist game of Donovan's career and the 11th time he has recorded at least one goal and one assist in the same game.


GALAXY VS. NEW ENGLAND: The Galaxy defeated the Revolution 1-0 in the 2005 MLS Cup Championship...The Galaxy won its first MLS Cup, the 2002 MLS title against New England at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro...The Galaxy own a 12-8-4 overall regular season record against New England, but Los Angeles is winless in its last four matches against the Revs with a 0-2-2 record...The Galaxy have not defeated New England in the regular season since April 3, 2004...Cobi Jones leads L.A. with 10 goals against the Revs...Taylor Twellman has scored three goals and registered three assists vs. the Galaxy.


2006 L.A. GALAXY TOURNAMENTS AND EVENTS: The L.A. Galaxy are pleased to announce that the Galaxy Clasico II adult soccer tournament and Copa LA V youth soccer tournament will both be returning to the San Bernardino Soccer Complex in 2006.


The second annual Galaxy Clasico II will take place on May 20th and 21st, and will see competitive teams in the Men's and Women's Open Divisions, as well as friendly competition in the Men's Over 30, Over 40, and Over 50 divisions, plus the Women's Over 30 division. The Men's Open Division will play for a cash prize and the chance to be seen Galaxy scouts will be in attendance.


The fifth anniversary of the Copa L.A. V tournament will again take place over Memorial Day weekend from May 27th - 29th in San Bernardino. Besides playing in a first class tournament at a great facility, participants will also have fun enjoying the sponsor booths and gifts, appearances by Galaxy players, and many other elements sure to create the memory of a lifetime for all those in attendance.
