Los Angeles Galaxy trade rights to midfielder Marcelo Saragosa to FC Dallas

CARSON, CA - The Los Angeles Galaxy have traded the rights to midfielder Marcelo Saragosa to FC Dallas in exchange for Dallas' second round pick in the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft, the club announced today. The Galaxy had retained the rights to Saragosa after he was not claimed off waivers on June 27.


Saragosa, 24, was originally acquired by the Galaxy from Sao Paulo FC (Brazil) on March 31, 2004. In early 2005, he returned to Brazil but was re-signed by the Galaxy on September 13, 2005. Saragosa went on to help the Galaxy in their late season run to capture the domestic double, winning the U.S. Open Cup and MLS Cup championships. From 2004-06, Saragosa appeared in 40 games (36 starts) and registered a goal and an assist.
