Galaxy 2, Chivas USA 1 -- quote sheet

LOS ANGELES GALAXY 2, CHIVAS USA 1

LOS ANGELES GALAXY HEAD COACH STEVE SAMPSON

On the game:
"I was very pleased with the first half and how we possessed the ball and creating chances. Cornell (Glen) had two very good chances in the first half; if he had just slipped (the ball) a little bit sooner I am sure he would have scored. But, most importantly, I liked the way we played, but then to give up that early goal in the second half was just disastrous and inexcusable. I really enjoyed the way our guys fought back and never gave up believing in themselves. I liked the fact that Cornell Glen finished his chances in the second half, he was very down on himself at halftime and the guys picked him up. He wanted to make a statement in the second half."

On the atmosphere:
"The atmosphere was phenomenal tonight. I think the Chivas fans were incredible, the Galaxy fans and their flags and their chants. I felt like I was in Europe or South America. This is the kind of atmosphere that this league has been waiting for. It was truly impressive and let's hope that other clubs around the league can gain this kind of atmosphere. We are very fortunate to have that here."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY FORWARD CORNELL GLEN

On the game:
"It feels great to score two goals. I was walking a tight rope; I missed like four good chances in the first half and I had to get those back. But, it is not just me. I scored two goals, but it is a whole team effort and the team played well."

On his goals:
"After the first half, I just had to keep my head up and keep going to try and get the goal. I just knew it was going to come. It was just a matter of time. The Lord blessed me and I got one."

On the atmosphere:
"We need rivalries like this in the league and need more atmospheres like this around the league. It is good to have 20,000 people in the stadium every week."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY FORWARD LANDON DONOVAN

On his assist:
"I wanted to dribble by them or give it to him (Cornell Glen) early, but he kind of floated across and there wasn't a hole to get it through to him. So, I took my time and I think got by (Claudio) Suarez and I looked up and (Glen) was kind of fading away. I just tried to put it into a good spot and it was a good finish too. I don't know if he meant to, but it was a good finish."

On the Galaxy's first goal:
"The goal kind of came out of nothing. It was a bit little surprising that out of all the good things that we did and the good play, we got a goal just kind of scrapping in the box and it falls to Cornell. But, I don't think anyone can say that we didn't deserve to win the game."

CHIVAS USA HEAD COACH BOB BRADLEY

On the game:

"I don't think we played a good first half. I think we pushed the level in the second half... They (the players) took the initiative in the second half and that is positive."

On the Galaxy's winning goal:

"We were trying to get the winning goal and we lost the ball in a bad position and it turned into a counter and then Landon did very well to run the ball into the attack and make a great pass to Cornell Glen."

On Chivas USA's improvement:

"I thought that we came out strong in the second half. I thought that we played quite well and we had a chance to go up two goals and didn't finish the game. That is an important part of our progress and we are disappointed."

CHIVAS USA FORWARD ANTE RAZOV

On scoring his third goal of the season:

"It would feel a lot better if we had won tonight. It's nice to score as a forward but we are pretty disappointed that we lost."

On the game:

"They made some plays and we didn't make them. There is no individual blame around here... It's a lapse of concentration in both ends of the field. They capitalized on it and we didn't make enough plays and they got two goals in the end."

CHIVAS USA MIDFIELDER FRANCISCO MENDOZA

On the result:

"We lacked concentration. We thought we had won and then the team didn't come together and we paid for it."

On the team's performance:

"We lacked concentration in the last 15 minutes. We lacked more personality from all the players."

On how Chivas USA's will recover:

"This is the first of [four] games against the Galaxy. We will just think about the next one and go forward."

CHIVAS USA MIDFIELDER JOHN O'BRIEN

On Bradley's suggestions before he went in:

"Try to help the team keep the ball. Because at that point we were up 1-0 and just watch the wide guys."

On his first Honda Super Clásico:

"I was into the atmosphere. I felt like I was part of the game."

On expectations for playing time:

"We'll have a bye week and I can work in my fitness and be fit enough to play more."
