FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas forward Carlos Ruiz's game-winning goal versus the New York Red Bulls on May 24 was voted as the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week for Week 9. This is the second consecutive week that a Ruiz goal was recognized as the best goal of the week through online voting on the MLS official site, MLSnet.com. In Week 8, his 40-yard lob against New England on May 20 also took the honors.

The Guatemalan International gave FCD the full three points last Wednesday night with his 87th minute winner. Ruiz collected a pass from Richard Mulrooney in the center of the box and twisted past Red Bull defender Taylor Graham before firing a left-footed shot past Tony Meola and just inside his left post to give FCD a 2-1 advantage. The Hoops would go on to win the game by that final scoreline to improve to an MLS best 6-1-3 and place them seven points ahead of second place Houston Dynamo.

Ruiz, who has now scored a goal in five consecutive games, is second in MLS with six goals scored - with two of those goals being game-winners.

FC Dallas is back action on Saturday, June 3 when Columbus Crew visit Pizza Hut Park (7:30 p.m). Ruiz, who tied former Dallas player Damian (1997) and Jason Kreis (2002) as the only players in club history to score in five straight games, will seek to set a new Dallas record and tie a personal best of six straight games with a goal, which he set over the final four games of 2002 and the first two games of the 2003 campaign.
