Club America 2, Fire 1 -- quote sheet

CLUB AMERICA 2, CHICAGO FIRE 1

CHICAGO FIRE HEAD COACH DAVE SARACHAN

On the game:
"I thought it was a terrific night of soccer. Obviously, it was the first international at Toyota Park and the place was buzzing, no question about it. I want to say that I thought the game was a very good game. I thought Club America, the approach they took to the game, was a good, honest approach of soccer. They're a very good team. People ask me going into this, because we're in our season, what does this game mean to us? And for me, this is always a good opportunity to play very good teams and to have players on our team get some experience in this kind of event. For us it was a good night of soccer. We don't like to lose, but it was a good, honest game tonight."

CHICAGO FIRE MIDFIELDER AND CAPTAIN DIEGO GUTIERREZ

On the game:
"It was an interesting game. I think it's always good when you get a chance to measure up against a pretty good team, a team that obviously had their whole lineup. It would have been interesting to see how we would have done with all our boys."

On the atmosphere of the match:
"It's an interesting match because we know that any time we play a Mexican team or teams from overseas their fans from back home are going to come and they're going to support. It was an interesting crowd tonight. We appreciate any time people come out and watch the game of soccer."

CLUB AMERICA HEAD COACH LUIS FERNANDO TENA

On the game:
"I think first of all, I think it was a very intense game. There were lots of opportunities by both teams. I think America dominated at first, but I think in the second half the Fire really pushed hard and created some opportunities, obviously they got the goal. I think overall it was a great final. Everybody who paid for tickets to come to tonight's game, the 16,000 plus people who showed, had a fun time. I think everyone's going home happy."
