SECAUCUS, N.J. - Bayern Munich announced their 14-man squad that will take on the New York Red Bulls in a special international friendly on Saturday, May 27 at 12:00 noon at Giants Stadium.
Bayern Munich- who won the German Bundesliga after posting a 22-3-9 record in the 2005-2006 season- will be bringing a number of notable players from their first team. Among them are Dutch striker Roy Makaay who scored a team-best 17 goals this season, Peruvian forward Claudio Pizarro who netted 14 goals in '06, two-time German World Cup veteran Jens Jeremies and World Cup winner Bixente Lizarazu.
Lizarazu was a teammate of Red Bulls' midfielder Youri Djorkaeff on the 1998 French World Cup championship squad.
Saturday will mark the second all time meeting between the two sides, as New York upset Bayern Munich 2-0 on May 26, 2001 at Giants Stadium.
