KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Wizards will host the 3rd Annual "Jerseys Off Their Backs" Night to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Saturday, September 10th when Kansas City hosts the MetroStars at Arrowhead Stadium. All 27 players' game-worn jerseys will be given away via scratch-off raffle tickets or silent auction during the game. The match will kickoff at 7:00 p.m. CT.
Scratch-off tickets will be sold before and during the game through halftime, for just $1 each. Winning tickets will show a specific jersey number of the player's jersey they will win. Several jerseys will also be available through a silent auction that will take place at Gate C outside the stadium prior to the game, then continue behind section 114 during the game and through halftime.
At the completion of halftime, the auction winners will be announced and all winners will be led onto the field following the game where they will meet the players and receive their game-worn jersey.
All proceeds from the raffle and auction will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association in the Kansas City area. Last year's "Jersey's Off Their Back" Night raised over $10,000 for the MDA. The Wizards first jersey raffle and auction in 2003 raised over $8,500.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a voluntary National health agency dedicated to conquering neuromuscular diseases that affect over one million Americans. Funds raised during the "Jerseys Off Their Backs" event will benefit hundreds of local children and adults living in the Greater Kansas City area with neuromuscular diseases. Contributions will be allocated to MDA research projects, the MDA clinic at KU Medical Center and to Summer Camp for children ages 6 to 21 living in the area.
