Wizards to collect donations for hurricane victims Saturday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Wizards and the Salvation Army will collect donations prior to the Wizards vs. Los Angeles Galaxy match at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday, September 17th. Fans can bring bottled water, non-perishable food items (no glass), cleaning supplies and monetary donations that will be used to aid in relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina victims.


"The Wizards and Arrowhead Stadium are pleased to be able to act as a donation center for the Salvation Army on September 17th," said Wizards General Manager Curt Johnson. "The Salvation Army needs assistance as they work to service the needs of those who have been affected by Hurricane Katrina. I encourage all Wizards fans to make a donation as they enter the stadium prior to our game against the Los Angeles Galaxy."


Salvation Army volunteers will be positioned outside Gates B, C and D to collect donations. Fans who make a donation to the hurricane relief efforts at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday will receive a free mini soccer ball while supplies last.


The Wizards host U.S. National Team star Landon Donovan and the Galaxy for the first and only time at Arrowhead Stadium this season on Saturday, September 17th at 7:00 p.m. CT. Kansas City will continue their playoff push as they look to solidify a spot in the postseason with five games remaining in the regular season.
