Wizards announce schedule changes

Kansas City Wizards General Manager Curt Johnson announced a number of changes to the Wizards 2004 schedule made in conjunction with Major League Soccer’s announcement of a date change for the 2004 Sierra Mist All-Star Game. The League’s ninth midsummer classic, originally slated for July 24th, will now be televised live on ABC Sports at 1:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, July 31st with the site, format and opponents to be unveiled at a later date.

To accommodate the date change for the All-Star game, the Wizards match originally scheduled for July 31st at Los Angeles has been moved to Saturday, June 5th with kickoff scheduled for 9:30 p.m. CT. The Wizards second home date against Los Angeles originally scheduled for Friday, August 27th has been moved to Saturday July 24th with kickoff remaining at 7:30 p.m. CT.

Two more road dates for the Wizards have also been moved to accommodate local scheduling issues. The match originally scheduled for Saturday August 7th at Chicago has been moved to Wednesday, September 1st at 7:30 p.m. CT and the Wizards second trip to Colorado on Saturday, September 11th has been moved back one day to Friday, September 10th at 8:30 p.m. CT.

The Wizards have also announced one start time change to their Saturday, August 14th match against the defending MLS Cup Champion San Jose Earthquakes. The kickoff time has been moved from 7:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. CT and will now be broadcast live on ESPN2.
