Wizards announce exhibitions in Tulsa, Springfield

KANSAS CITY, MO - The Kansas City Wizards unveiled plans today for their 3rd Annual Mid-America Barnstorming Tour that will consist of several exhibition matches being played around the Midwest. Two exhibitions have been confirmed so far - a doubleheader in Tulsa, Oklahoma and one game in Springfield, Missouri - and more will be announced in the coming weeks.

"Both competitively and from a marketing standpoint the Mid-America Barnstorming Exhibition Tour has become an integral part of the Wizards season," said Wizards General Manager Curt Johnson. "We look forward to taking the Wizards on the road throughout Middle America."

On Friday, March 25th, the Wizards will face MLS expansion team Real Salt Lake in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The match will kickoff at 7:00 p.m. CT and will serve as the final tune-up for the Wizards as they open the 2005 MLS regular season the following weekend, hosting the Colorado Rapids at Arrowhead on Saturday, April 2nd.

The exhibition match will mark the third consecutive year the Wizards have staged an exhibition match in Tulsa, and for the second straight year the game will be played at the newly built University of Tulsa Soccer & Track Stadium.

The Wizards-Real Salt Lake match will be the second game of a doubleheader. Prior to that match the Wizards Reserves will face off against the University of Tulsa. That match will kickoff at 5:00 p.m. CT. Tickets to the exhibition doubleheader can be purchased through the University of Tulsa ticket office by calling 918-631-4688.

On Friday, April 8, the Wizards will travel to Springfield, Missouri to face Southwest Missouri State. The match will take place at the Cooper Sports Complex in Springfield with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT. This will be the fourth consecutive year that Kansas City has staged an exhibition match in Springfield, the third largest city in the state of Missouri.
