Wizards 1, Quakes 0 -- quote sheet

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS 1, SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES 0

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS HEAD COACH BOB GANSLER

On Jack Jewsbury:
"He is a good attacking player, he gets his shots off and he puts them on frame. You've got the sixth man (in basketball) and we have the 12th man. He is our designated scorer."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS GOALKEEPER BO OSHONIYI

On two home wins heading into next week's two-game road swing:
"This was big for us. We needed to come home after the D.C. game (May 21) and get two home wins and were able to do that. Now we need to go on the road for two games; it's always tough playing in L.A., but hopefully we can go after it and keep this roll going. Everyone is fighting for each other right now, and hopefully we can keep things going."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS MIDFIELDER JACK JEWSBURY

On his goal:
"I didn't really hit the first one as well as I would have liked to and I didn't place it in the corner like I meant to. But the ball came off [Pat] Onstad right to me and it looked like he was on his heels so I cut back in the middle. At that time it looked like the net was pretty much wide open so I just slotted it to the near corner."

On the increased energy in the second half:
"I think we knew at halftime we didn't come out the way we planned, we wanted to have a lot more energy. When we talked at halftime we understood that a little better and we were able to execute our plan a little better."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES HEAD COACH DOMINIC KINNEAR

On the game:
"We had great possession in the first half and we were moving the ball around very well. I think that we tired a bit in the second half, but we still had most of the ball. I am surprised that we lost the game tonight with the way that we played. We just couldn't quite finish our chances tonight."

On the road trip:
"I thought that the team played better as the trip went on. Tonight we played very well and it was tough not to come out of here with three points or even a tie. Overall, the team is playing well, but we just have to get some results."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES MIDFIELDER DWAYNE DE ROSARIO

On the game:
"We played well and we deserved a win or a tie. We just didn't finish our plays well in the final third. In the second half, we had some heavy legs, but that is to be expected playing three straight games on the road."

On the team's attitude:
"By no means do we have our heads down right now. We know that we played well tonight, so we are disappointed in the result but not in the way we are playing. We deserve better and I think that we are going to go on a good run coming up."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES DEFENDER CHRIS ALOISI

On contributions:
"I am feeling comfortable out there with two games under my belt. From the start of the year, I have just wanted to contribute any way that I can, either starting or coming off the bench. I think that we are playing well in the back and we are only going to get better."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES MIDFIELDER BRAD DAVIS

On possession:
"We had most of the possession tonight and we had a great buildup. For some reason our final pass was just not there tonight, but I am happy with the way that the team performed. Maybe our timing was a bit off, but they have good defenders and they made it tough for our guys to get open in box tonight."

On playing in front of family:
"That is what everyone dreams about, coming out and playing in front of family and friends. I thought the team came out and did a good job right from the start of the game and we definitely have something to build on."
