Wizards 1, MetroStars 0 -- quote sheet

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS 1, METROSTARS 0

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS HEAD COACH BOB GANSLER

On the game:
"It was just a matter of putting the game together, all the credit to the guys. They knew that we didn't do well enough in D.C. and we had to come home and win. It doesn't matter if it is 4-3 or 1-0 it is all about getting one more than the other guys. The best of teams are able to win 4-3 and 1-0 also and that is what we are striving to do."

On Diego Gutierrez's return:
"He brings back what he has always had last year and this year and that is stability. He is a two-way player - he sets an example in terms of the defensive end, in terms of reading and tackling and he sets an offensive tone too. He is the consummate pro, he brings leadership and confidence to everyone around him."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS MIDFIELDER DIEGO GUTIERREZ

On the game:
"Tonight was a good example of us coming with the mentality and an attitude with a goal in mind. Not only the 11 guys that started, but the guys that came off the bench had an impact and helped up get three points."

On his return to the lineup:
"I feel fine. I was actually surprised that I was able to go 90 minutes. I didn't feel like I was going to be able to at halftime, but I got my second wind halfway through the second half and was able to finish."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS FORWARD DAVY ARNAUD

On winning without Josh Wolff and Kerry Zavagnin:
"We said before the game with Josh and Kerry being gone, everybody had to pull together. It was a big game for us and we knew we needed three points. When you have two guys like that gone from your team, it hurts but everyone just pulled together and worked hard and we got the win."

On his goal:

"Scott let it run through his legs and actually (dragged) the defender with him. I thought he was going to hit it, but he let it run through his legs, which was a good play by him, a good ball by Sasha and I was just trying to get it somewhere on target."
METROSTARS HEAD COACH BOB BRADLEY

On K.C. stretching the Metrostars out:
"That has always been K.C.'s style, to stretch you out. They did a good job with the long balls and kept us off balance."

On the difference between the New England game and tonight:
"I don't know. Tonight we didn't put the passes together like we did against New England."
