Wizards 0, Quakes 0 -- quote sheet

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS 0, SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES 0

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES HEAD COACH DOMINIC KINNEAR

On the game:
"We deserved something more than a tie out of the game tonight. One team came out to play tonight looking for a win and another came out looking for a tie, and that is what we got. It wasn't for lack of trying on our part. We were pressing the issue and I told the guys that if we can take this commitment and effort to Dallas, we will win the game."

On the Quakes attempts to score:
"We were taking chances and going forward. Through some goal posts and crossbars and near-misses, we didn't score a goal tonight. I can't fault the guys because their work rate, their demeanor and commitment was excellent and I couldn't ask for anything more. We should have scored a goal."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES MIDFIELDER BRIAN MULLAN

On the game:
"Our team played great. We were out there hustling and creating chances -- luck just wasn't with us. If we come out like that in Dallas and play well, there is no doubt in my mind that we will be in the playoffs."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES MIDFIELDER RONNIE EKELUND

On the game:
"We knew what we had to do. We were really trying hard to win this game. At this point it is about survival, so yeah, I think you could say there was an extra gear tonight."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES GOALKEEPER JON CONWAY

On second shutout of season:
"It was fine, a good game. Obviously, I wish that we would have won. The team played great. We came out great and it was unfortunate that we couldn't get a goal."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES FORWARD BRIAN CHING

On starting his first game since Sept. 18:
"It felt good. It was intense. I think that we were unlucky to not get those goals, and if we bring that same style of play, I think we will be a contender."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS HEAD COACH BOB GANSLER

On the game:
"We came for three, we always come for three. This is a challenging place to play. They obviously put everything into it. They are a good team and are the defending champs. It took a major effort on our part from Bo and the other ten that were in front of him to keep them at bay. So, I am OK with the one point. We came for three but three points, up with a game to go and we play the folks that are the closest to us. It is all right and we are OK."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS GOALKEEPER BO OSHONIYI

On the defense:
"Jimmy (Conrad), Nick (Garcia), Jose (Burciaga Jr.), Alex (Zotinca) -- all those guys did a great job for us tonight. We were under a lot of pressure from the start and we limited their chances. That is the only way we get results and we got a result tonight."

On how the team prepared:
"We know not to panic and that the first 15 minutes they are going to be coming at us. We weathered that storm and were able to start to play a little bit in the first half and then in the second half I think it was pretty even. We had our chances and they had their chances. Like I said, we have been playing sharp defensively, so we have been able to get results and hopefully we will be able to get one more next weekend."
