Fire to Make Six Appearances on HDNet National Broadcast Schedule in 2005
HDNet and MLS have announced the high-definition network's 28-game "MLS on HDNet" broadcast schedule for the 2005 season, a slate that will feature six Chicago Fire contests. Fire fans will not have to wait long to see the "Men in Red" on HDNet, as the network will carry Chicago's Week 2 match at defending MLS Cup champion D.C. United from RFK Stadium on Saturday, Apr. 9. Other matches featuring the Fire on "MLS on HDNet" include its pair of road contests against Eastern Conference rival Columbus Crew on Apr. 30 and Sep. 17, which will bookend a trio of home games on May 14 (MetroStars), May 21 (Colorado Rapids) and Aug. 13 (Los Angeles Galaxy). Along with ESPN2's four broadcasts of Fire matches, Chicago is set to appear on at least 10 national broadcasts, with Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Español still yet to release their 2005 broadcast schedules. Follow the Fire in Guadalajara on Univision Radio and TV This Week
Fire fans will be able to keep up with the "Men in Red" this week while the squad continues its preseason training camp in Guadalajara, Mexico, as WGBO-TV's (Univision-66) Hector Lozano and "El Tico" Fernandez of WRTO 1200 AM arrived in Central Mexico today to begin their coverage of the team during its stay south of the border. Tickets for Fire's Soldier Field Opener on Apr. 16 vs. San Jose Now on Sale
With the Chicago Fire's final opening day at Soldier Field nearly a month away, the club has announced that tickets for the home opener on Apr. 16 against the San Jose Earthquakes are now on sale. Tickets for the match, which is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. CT kick-off at the Lakefront venue, can be purchased through Ticketmaster by calling 312-559-1212 or visiting www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the Chicago Fire Offices, located at 980 N. Michigan, Suite 1998 in Chicago. To order season tickets or for group discount information, please call 1-888-MLS-FIRE. The Fire's 2005 season will be its last at Soldier Field before the club moves to its 20,000-seat soccer-specific stadium in the Village of Bridgeview in the Spring of 2006.

Only three weeks remain to reserve your seat - or seats - for the FireWorks for Kids Foundation 2005 Season Kickoff Luncheon, sponsored by AthletiCo. The 2005 edition of the annual Luncheon will take place on Tuesday, Mar. 29 in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Chicago, located at 151 East Wacker Drive. This year's event will begin with a reception at 11:00 a.m. CT, with the lunch and formal program beginning at 12:00 p.m. Veteran Chicago sports anchor Jim Rose of WLS-TV (ABC-7 Chicago) will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for this year's event, while recent National Soccer Hall of Fame inductee and former Fire and U.S. National Team member Eric Wynalda will perform as the Luncheon's Keynote Speaker. Tickets for this year's Season Kickoff Luncheon are $60 per individual or $500 for a table of ten, with all proceeds from the event and silent auction benefiting the FireWorks for Kids Foundation.   • The Fire's Mexican League sister team, Monarcas Morelia, kept pace in Group 1 of 2005 COMEX Clausura play last weekend after drawing with Club America 1-1 at Morelos Stadium in Morelia. The result kept the "Monarchs" in a first-place tie in Group 1 alongside Tecos (U.A.G.), who the Fire will scrimmage on Thursday during its stay in Guadalajara. Moreila (5-1-2, 17 pts.) will travel to Torreon, Mexico this weekend to take on Santos Laguna (5-3-0, 15 pts.) in a clash of group leaders on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 4:00 p.m. CT.
