WORLD PREMIER: 'Sí se Puede' a documentary on the birth of Chivas USA in Major League Soccer made it's world premier this past Sunday October 20, at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival celebrated at the Lloyd E. Rigler Theater in front of more than 400 people. Directed by Sergio Guerrero, 'Sí se Puede' is a behind-the-scenes documentary of Chivas USA, the first Mexican-owned club team to become part of MLS.


EZRA HONORED: Chivas USA defender Ezra Hendrickson who in just two years will have the longest professional career of any Howard County athlete to come out its school system was honored last Saturday and was inducted into the Howard County Hall of Fame along with Tiffany Longworth-Boruff, Cary Hungate, Bruce Rose and the now deceased Walter Cross and Tom Warne. The ceremony was held at the Johanning Civic Center in city of Kokomo located in Howard County, Indiana in front of 225 people. Hendrickson played soccer for Western High School in Kokomo, and was also part of the 1990 Kokomo Basketball Sectional championship team.


PALENCIA PROMOTES MLS CUP 2005: Chivas USA forward Francisco Palencia one of MLS' most popular stars is in Dallas, Texas, to promote the 2005 MLS Cup which will take place at the Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas on November 13. Palencia will be participating in various Spanish-Language television and radio shows, including a live appearance at the FC Dallas' weekly radio program.


CHIVAS USA LOSES TIEBREAKER: Chivas USA returned to Los Angeles this past Saturday after its 0-1 loss to fellow expansion side Real Salt Lake, in the first post season exhibition. The solitary goal was scored by Jamie Watson in a game that was played in front of 10,000 fans last Friday October 28, at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah where RSL's victory marked the tiebreaker between the two teams, since both sides won two games apiece from their four game series in the 2005 MLS season.


GUADALAJARA UPDATE: This past Saturday, Chivas USA's sister team, Club Deportivo Guadalajara (popularly known as 'Chivas'), lost 1-2 against Monarcas Morelia on Matchday 14 (of 17) of the Mexican Apertura 2005 season. With the result, Chivas' record is now at 4-5-6 (W-L-T); with just four matches remaining in the regular season, the team sits on 18 points in fifth place in six-team Group 3. (The top two teams from each group, as well as the two best third-place finishers, advance to the Liguilla, or playoffs.) Up next Chivas will play the Guadalajara derby against Atlas on Matchday 15, at 6:45 p.m. PT (8:45 p.m. local time) this Saturday.


CHIVAS USA SOCCER ACADEMY: The Chivas USA Soccer Academy continues play this week in preparation for this weekend's slate of games in Baldwin Park, with sessions at The Home Depot Center's Field 5 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday. MINI-CHIVAGIRLS: The ChivaGirls are offering a clinic for Mini-ChivaGirls, where young women from 3 to 15 years old will be taught to dance and perform cheering routines. The classes will be held Wednesday and Friday afternoons at The Home Depot Center, with a cost of $50 per month, plus uniform costs. Participants will have a chance to take the field with the ChivaGirls during select Chivas USA home games, and will also be able to dance on the ChivaTown stage during halftime.
