Weekly update: Rapids lie ahead

CARSON, Calif. - Chivas USA begins the week in preparation for its match against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, June 18, at 7:00 p.m. (Pacific Time) at The Home Depot Center. This will be the second game between the two teams this season, the first ending in favor of the Rapids, 2-1 in Denver, Colorado on May, 12.


FATHERS' DAY SPECIAL: Chivas USA will celebrate Fathers' Day will a special offer for Saturday's game against Rapids. GUZAN, BACK IN GOAL: Chivas USA goalkeeper Brad Guzan is back in action after four-game hiatus. Guzan returned to the starting eleven against San Jose and had a strong performance with seven saves and only one goal allowed bringing his 2005 totals to a 1.89 goals-against average and logging 44 saves in 9 games played.


EZRA GETS 'WEEK' NOMINATION: Ezra Hendrickson's goal against San Jose in Week 13 of the season was nominated for the 'Sierra Mist Goal of the Week. The Chivas USA midfielder scored his second goal of the season scoring his first against the Chicago Fire on June 4 and his second was on June 12, versus San Jose to tie the game. Hendrickson has 2 goals with 12 shots on goal and 1 assist so far in 2005.


CHIVAS VS. BOCA VIEWING PARTY: Chivas Rayadas de Guadalajara are in Argentina for their second-leg game against Boca Juniors on Wednesday June 15, for the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores. Chivas USA, Fox Sports and Radiovisa invite all Chivas fans to show up at Mariscos Las Palmas restaurant for a big screen viewing party of the game. The game will start at 5:15 p.m. (Pacific Time). BANK OF AMERICA WITH CHIVAS: Chivas USA and Bank of America will be holding an press conference on Thursday, June 16, at The Home Depot Center to announce their partnership as well as announce the launch of "Educate to Activate", a campaign which promotes financial fitness within the Hispanic community.


CHIVAS USA PASSBACK DAY: On June 18, Chivas USA, along with the U.S. Soccer Foundation, will be hosting its Passback Day. Everyone will be able to bring new and gently used soccer equipment to the Passback booth and donate it to the U.S. Soccer Foundation. All collected items will be used to support the demand for soccer gear in hard to serve communities.
