  • Wizards Host D.C. United Wednesday, July 20th for Final Time in 2005 Regular Season
The Kansas City Wizards (7-4-7, 28 points) will take on D.C. United (7-6-4, 25 points) for the fourth and final time this season on Wednesday, July 20th at Arrowhead Stadium, with kickoff at 7:00 p.m. CT. The season series between the two 2004 MLS Cup finalists is knotted at 1-1-1 with the team's battling to a 0-0 tie in Kansas City on April 30th, then D.C. winning 3-2 at home on May 21st and Kansas City winning away on July 9th.

Kansas City is currently three points ahead of D.C. in the standings, sitting in third place in the East. D.C. is tied with the MetroStars for the fourth and final playoff spot. The Wizards have won two straight heading into Wednesday's meeting, the 1-0 road win at D.C. on July 9th and last weekend's 3-2 win at home against expansion side Real Salt Lake. D.C. is coming off a convincing 3-0 win at home over the San Jose Earthquakes.

Both teams will continue to play shorthanded as each side has two players with the U.S. National Team in Gold Cup competition (KC: Josh Wolff & Jimmy Conrad; DC: Ben Olsen & Santino Quaranta). D.C. will have the services of forward Jaime Moreno, who missed the team's last match against Kansas City on July 9th with a sprained ankle. He returned to the D.C. lineup last weekend and scored his eighth goal of the season.

Saturday's Match At Columbus to be Broadcast Live on HDNet
On Saturday, July 23rd the Wizards will travel to Columbus to face the Columbus Crew at Crew Stadium. The match will kickoff at 6:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on HDNet. The Wizards will try to gain ground in the Eastern Conference when they take on the last place Crew on the road. The Wizards posted a 4-0 win at Columbus on May 14th in the team's first meeting of the season, then settled for a 1-1 tie at Arrowhead on June 29th.

Wizards Reserves Return to Action Thursday, July 21st Against D.C. United Reserves
The Kansas City Wizards Reserves return to action on Thursday, July 21st when they host the D.C. United Reserves at the Arrowhead Outdoor Training Facility at 10:00 a.m. CT. The match will be open to the public but fans will only be allowed to sit outside the fenced area on the hill to the north of the field. Credentialed media members will be admitted inside the fenced area.

Fans wishing to watch the Reserve match should enter the Truman Sports Complex through Gate 5 and park in Lot N. The grassy hill overlooking the Arrowhead Training fields will be located adjacent to the Lot N parking area.

Conrad & Wolff Help U.S. Reach Semifinals of 2005 Gold Cup with Win Over Stephenson & Jamaica
Wizards defender Jimmy Conrad and forward Josh Wolff once again played a pivotal role in the United States' win over Jamaica in the Gold Cup Quarterfinals last week. The duo helped the U.S. advance to the Semifinals where they will face Honduras on Thursday, July 21st at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ at 5:00 p.m. CT.

Josh Wolff scored his 8th career international goal when he found the back of the net in the 6th minute against Jamaica. His goal was the American's first goal in their 3-1 win. Defender Jimmy Conrad made his third start in four games of the tournament and played the full 90 minutes at center back. Wizards midfielder Khari Stephenson played the full 90 minutes for the Reggae Boyz in their loss to the U.S and finished the tournament playing every minute of all four matches for Jamaica as a defensive midfielder.
