USASA men's national select team to take on Columbus Crew reserves during All-Star weekend

As part of the activities leading up to the 2005 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game, the United States Adult Soccer Association's (USASA) Men's National Select Team will face off against the Columbus Crew Reserves at Easton Soccer Field # 11 on Friday, July 29, at 3 p.m. ET. The event is free to the public with complimentary parking available.

The United States Adult Soccer Association's (USASA) Select Teams Program provides players the opportunity to compete at the highest available level within the USASA, in addition to identifying and showcasing players for the next level of competition. The program serves as training ground for the U-16 through U-23 U.S. National Teams. Additionally, the program has proven to be an important vehicle for the education and advancement of referees through valuable competitive game assessments. It also provides an opportunity for coaches to demonstrate their knowledge and ability in highly competitive game situations.

From the inception of the USASA Select Teams Program, a vast number of players have been selected through the USASA Select Teams Program to participate for both the Men's and Women's U.S. Olympic, National or World Cup Teams. Real Salt Lake standout Clint Mathis and former Crew star and current Fulham FC forward Brian McBride are just two of many World Cup players who benefited from the USASA's Select Teams Program prior to turning professional.

McBride and Fulham FC will battle the MLS All-Stars at the 2005 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game on July 30, at 3:30 p.m. ET from Columbus Crew Stadium. The match will be televised live on ABC Sports. There are four levels of ticket pricing, ranging from $25 to $45 for individuals, and $17 to $30 for groups of 20 or more. Fans can purchase tickets by contacting the Columbus Crew at (614) 447-2739; by logging onto; by visiting the Crew Stadium ticket office; by calling TicketMaster - (614) 431-3600 (Columbus area) and at all TicketMaster outlets.
