United Opener Sold Out

D.C. United announced today that single-game tickets for this Saturday’s opening match against the San Jose Earthquakes are sold out. Approximately 100 tickets remain available for purchase as part of a full-season or half-season package.

For the 2004 season, D.C. United will utilize a more fan-friendly configuration for RFK Stadium. Only the lower bowl and mezzanine levels will be opened for league matches, hosting a capacity crowd of 24,603. This capacity mirrors planned seating for a soccer-specific stadium to be constructed in the near future.

“Everyone at D.C. United is thrilled to be sold out of our downsized capacity three days prior to kickoff,” said United President and CEO Kevin Payne. “The interest in our team, and in particular Freddy Adu, is something we expect to see carry over throughout the season. Out of respect to our fans that were unable to attend the 2004 season opener, we are offering a special priced ticket for our second home game on April 24th against our rivals, the Chicago Fire. We hope many of our fans will take advantage of this special offer.”

Excellent seats still remain for United’s second match which will feature the distribution of 5,000 free Freddy Adu Bobble head Dolls. The club announced today a “Sold Out Special” for fans wishing to attend the club’s second match, April 24th against the Chicago Fire. Premium tickets for the April 24th game purchased before kickoff April 3rd will be discounted to $17, a $5 savings from the normal price of $22.
