"I am excited to be joining the ESPN 790 AM family. This is a remarkable opportunity for soccer in the city of Houston," said Davis, who also does play-by-play for weekly MLS broadcasts on HDNet. "It is great to see the growth of the sport and changing interests of Houstonians being recognized by the media. Houston area fans are sophisticated when it comes to soccer and I believe is one of the great soccer cities in the United States based on its diversity."

Over 145 editions of the "Soccer Hour with Glenn Davis" originally aired on Pacifica 90.1 KPFT FM public radio during the course of three years.

"I have a special place in my heart for the sport," said Ken Charles, Director of Programming for Clear Channel Houston. "I spent some great Fourth of July weekends in Tampa watching the Rowdies take on the NY Cosmos with Pele and Franz Beckenbauer. Soccer is making a resurgence in America today and specifically in the Southwest. We recognize it and want to give that huge fan base a radio home."

ESPN 790 AM The Sports Animal launched its all-sports radio format in late 2004. The "Soccer Hour with Glenn Davis" will feature interviews with top soccer personalities and players, open phone lines and coverage of both the domestic and international soccer scene.
