Real Salt Lake (0-1-1, 1pt.) finished its second game of the season in a 2-2 draw against the Colorado Rapids (0-1-0, 1 pt.) at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Both of Colorado Rapids goals came from FW Sasha Gotsmanov and RSL scoring came from former Rapids DF Matt Behncke and MF Kenny Cutler.
The Rapids scored first just one minute into the game when Gotsmanov broke through the Real Salt Lake defense. The first half ended with an equalizer from Behncke who scored off a corner kick that was whipped in by Fitzpatrick.
Real Salt Lake came out of the locker room with the momentum the ended the first half. Just ten minutes into the second half, Rapids goalkeeper Byron Foss cleared a ball right to the foot of Cutler who blasted it by the outstretched hands of the 'keeper in the 55th minute.
RSL has several scoring opportunities in the 69th and 72nd minute when DF Sergio Flores and FW Jamie Watson both had shots on goal. Gotsmanov spoiled a RSL sweep of the Rapids by scoring his second goal in the 76th minute with a quick turn on RSL's defense and blasting a rocket by 'keeper Palmer with the game finished in a 2-2 draw.
