Real Salt Lake waives midfielders Adolfo Gregorio and Diego Walsh

SALT LAKE CITY - Real Salt Lake today announced that it has waived senior roster midfielders Adolfo Gregorio and Diego Walsh. In addition, RSL has also released GK Chase Harrison to reduce its 32-man preseason roster to 28 to meet Major League Soccer's 28-man roster requirement by Wednesday, March 1, 2006.

Gregorio's rights were acquired via a trade with the Colorado Rapids in exchange for a permanent Youth International slot and First Round 2007 Supplemental Draft pick on June 29, 2005. The California native was featured in six games, with four starts, for RSL during the 2005 campaign. Gregorio was selected by the Colorado Rapids with the 15th overall pick in the Second Round of the 2004 MLS SuperDraft on January 16, 2004. He spent the 2004-2005 season with Darlington Football Club of the English League Two where he scored two goals in 24 games.

RSL acquired the rights to Walsh via trade with the Kansas City Wizards in exchange for a Third Round 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft pick on November 17, 2005. Walsh, a 25-year old who stands at 6-0, 180, spent the past two seasons with the Kansas City Wizards where he played in 16 games, with 11 starts, and tallying 704 minutes. Prior to the Wizards, Walsh spent the 2003 season with the Columbus Crew who drafted him in the First Round (Seventh Overall) of the 2003 MLS SuperDraft on January 17, 2003. During his first MLS campaign, the Brazilian native played in 14 games with six starts and notched one goal in 612 minutes of play.

Harrison was a Third Round selection in the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft on January 26. The Huntington, West Virginia native was an integral part of the Virginia Tech program and holds all but one goalkeeping school record including career minutes played (7,181), career goals against average (1.12), career shutouts (24), season minutes played (2062), season goals against average (0.94) and season shutouts (8) twice.

Sequeira recently played the final 20 minutes as a second half substitute for MF Carlos Hernandez in Costa Rica's 1-0 win over South Korea at the Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, Calif. on February 11. He was an integral part of Costa Rica qualifying for the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany from CONCACAF region. The 28-year-old has played at all major levels for the Costa Rican National Team, representing his country at the U-17 (1995), U-20 (1997) world championships and during the qualifying process for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. RSL TENTH PRESEASON MATCH ENDS IN A 1-1 TIE AGAINST THE FAROE ISLANDS: RSL encountered some physical competition today in its 1-1 tie against the Faroe Islands at the Sunrise Hilton in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. RSL's goal was notched by MF Mehdi Ballouchy while the Faroe Island's lone goal was scored by MF Andrew Flotum.

The Faroe Islands began the first half with a surging attack and managed to get a shot off that went wide in the first minute. RSL returned the favor in the 12th minute when DF Chris Brown sent a deep ball down the right sideline to a streaking FW Atiba Harris. The St. Kitts-Nevis international beat his defender and found Ballouchy who put a shot on target tallying the first goal of the match.

In the 32nd minute, a group of RSL players put together a combination of one-touch passes almost leading to the team's second goal. FW Jeff Cunningham laid the ball off to Harris who found MF Andy Williams who then returned the ball back to Harris. The 21-year old fired a shot forcing the Faroe Island goalkeeper to make a diving save. RSL closed out the first half with Jamaican playmaker Williams picking up a red card in the 40th minute after a hard tackle.

RSL began the second half with a mass player substitution. With fresh legs and new energy, the teams resumed where they left off in the first half playing aggressive, physical soccer. The Faroe Islands continued to push for their first goal and would find it in the 86th minute. The ball came into the box and deflected around until it bounced out to Flotum who scored off a volley shot from six yards out.
