Rapids 1, Galaxy 1 -- quote sheet

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER QUOTE SHEET
SATURDAY, MAY 15, 2004 - COLORADO RAPIDS 1, LOS ANGELES GALAXY 1

LOS ANGELES GALAXY HEAD COACH SIGI SCHMID

On the game:
"In the first half I thought we played reasonably well. We created some chances and we were a

little bit unlucky. In the second half we lost the rhythm of the game and when we got the

go-ahead goal we dropped off and we were playing too deep.

"We weren't pushed up enough and that allowed them to play a little bit and get back into the

game. We didn't deal well once we got the lead and let them back in the game. We had some

counter opportunities but we didn't capitalize on them. We had to make an early sub with

(Alejandro) Moreno and the other substitutions didn't really pay the dividends for us that we

had hoped for."

On losing Carlos Ruiz and whether he can play on Wednesday:
"We know it's at least a bad sprain. He was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures,

just to rule out any possibilities. But it was definitely a bad sprain. He will definitely be

out for Wednesday's game."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY FORWARD ALEJANDRO MORENO

On the game:
"They (Colorado) played very defensively and took advantage of couple of counterattacks.

Tonight was tough because we cannot afford to tie games like this at home."

On coming in for Carlos Ruiz:
"I am sitting down watching the game, waiting to see if I am going to have the opportunity to

come in during the second half. All of a sudden my number is called and I have to go in. This

is why we prepare and compete during the week, to hopefully have a chance to play on gameday.

Today, I got that chance to play, but we did not get the job done."

On scoring his second goal in only 101 minutes played:
"I had a couple of breaks and I took advantage of them."

On the club's fan support:
"We have been asking the fans to come support us. The people here in L.A. are great, and we are

thankful for their support. We apologize for not getting the win, but we are trying hard and

hopefully they will continue to support us."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY MIDFIELDER COBI JONES

On his first start of the season:
"It was pretty good. I felt pretty good, and it's always nice to be back out in front of the

crowd. My legs feel fine and it's like every other year. I'm just happy to be out here."

COLORADO RAPIDS HEAD COACH TIM HANKINSON

On earning a point on the road:
"I think our continuously good defense was really important. They (Galaxy) have a lot of

weapons. Our ability to defend without considering ourselves a defensive team is always a

plus. We have had good possession on the road and that will eventually lead to some good wins

on the road."

On utilizing players in different positions on the field:
"Everyone knows the system by now, and the system doesn't change, and it's important for

players to know all positions and what's expected there."

COLORADO RAPIDS MIDFIELDER CHRIS HENDERSON

On tying the Rapids club record with his 100th point for the club:
"I am happy to get it (100th point) on an assist. Most of my points have come on assists

through the years. It was nice to get that out of the way and the most important thing was

that we came back here and got a point after being a goal down. For us to do what we did,

especially against a Western Conference team, and at the Home Depot Center, it was huge to come

back."

On next week's match against D.C. United and going for the MLS record home undefeated

streak:
"There is going to be a lot of hype surrounding it and it is going to be a great atmosphere.

Having our fans around is going to be great and these are the games in which we have to bring

it if we are going to make the playoffs."

COLORADO RAPIDS DEFENDER PABLO MASTROENI

On earning a point on the road:
"This is a great point for us on the road. I think today the guys really came up and fought

really hard and we really played for ourselves out there. We were down a goal and we showed a

lot of character in coming back and keeping our composure. The guys really proved themselves

today."

On their front line:
"When (John) Spencer is ready I think him and (Jean-Philippe) Peguero will do really well up

front and I think the guys that have stepped in are holding down the fort. It's a long season

and at times you're not going to have key players and I really think the guys that have come up

are doing a great job."
