Quakes reach out for hurricane relief

The San Jose Earthquakes are participating in a number of endeavors to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina both at the stadium and online. The Quakes will be hosting a silent auction at their game on Saturday, Sept. 10 against Chivas USA with all proceeds going to disaster relief organizations.


Earthquakes jerseys as well as special "unique" items like shoes, goalie gloves and others will also be part of the special auction. In addition, defender Craig Waibel will be donating a soccer clinic, Troy Dayak will have special items available and special mystery packages will also be part of fundraiser. The silent auction portion of the fundraiser will conclude at the start of the second half, and cash and checks will be accepted. In addition, the Earthquakes and American Red Cross will be accepting straight monetary donations at Spartan Stadium.


Also, the Earthquakes, along with the other 11 MLS teams, will be auctioning off game-worn autographed jerseys at mlsnet.com.
