SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES HEAD COACH DOMINIC KINNEAR
On the game:
"I am really happy for the guys. Over the past four games, we could have had more points and they could have put their heads down, especially after Kansas City scored early. I thought that we showed great character in coming back and we closed out the game well."
On seeing the game through:
"At the end, the guys really put in a great effort. They were diving in to block shots and they just did what they had to do at the end. We have talked a lot about finishing out the game the past few weeks and we got it done tonight."
On Dwayne De Rosario:
"I wanted him to try and join the attack late and find some soft pockets in their defense. He is more dangerous when he is running at the other team's goal and he showed that on his goal tonight."
SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES MIDFIELDER DWAYNE DE ROSARIO
On getting first win:
"It feels great to get back on the winning side, and for luck to fall our way. Pat [Onstad] made a great save on the penalty kick and even though we got down, we were able to bounce back and get right back into it."
On starting in central midfield:
"I just wanted to go out there and work hard and play my game. I had to keep in mind that I was playing in midfield, so I have to defend as well as attack. I felt comfortable; I felt I did all right. I felt that I held my own and I am pretty pleased with the performance all around tonight."
On his goal:
"It was a beautiful start. Brad [Davis] gave it to Ronald [Cerritos] and Ronald flicked it up to Brian [Ching] and he flicked it off to me. At first I was going to hit it first time, but I took a touch to the side and pulled it wide and then decided to hit it and fortunately it went in."
SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES FORWARD RONALD CERRITOS
On the game:
"Obviously, we feel good. Everybody was ready for the first win, and tonight everybody did their job and worked hard. We did it and we found a way to win the game."
On his goal:
"I was concentrating on the line of defenders and I know that they like to play an offside trap. I was looking at [Craig] Waibel for the ball, and he just sent a great pass to me. I got a little bit lucky too, to put it through the keepers legs, and it feels great to get a goal."

On the game:
"To get that first win is huge. It is very important for us for our confidence level. We are a young team and I think not winning in the first three games really affected us. This is a huge win and hopefully we can build on it. There were some really good things out there tonight, as far as us holding onto the ball and creating good chances against a really good team. I think we will take a lot out of this game and it can only help us."
KANSAS CITY WIZARDS HEAD COACH BOB GANSLER
On the game:
"As always, out here it is a great game for the fans. I thought we did just about enough to get a point here, not that that is what we came for, but I thought it was an even game. We are a disappointed bunch. We haven't found a way to win convincingly. We have more talent in this locker room to take better charge of the games and play more convincingly. It is game three, and there are 29 to go, but we are wasting time here."
KANSAS CITY WIZARDS DEFENDER JIMMY CONRAD
On the Wizards defensive performance:
"We tried to hold a tight line and they slipped behind and caught us. I think that rattled us and they took control and we didn't want to hold that tight line anymore. We got a little stretched and they took advantage of that."
On the Wizards allowing seven goals in three games:
"Obviously something is up because we have given up a lot of goals in the last three games. It is something where we need to look at the tape and figure out what is going on and move on from there. I don't feel like there has been a chance where we are barely holding on and giving up chance after chance. We are giving up very few chances but people are taking advantage of them."
KANSAS CITY WIZARDS FORWARD SCOTT SEALY
On his first MLS start and first goal:
"It is sort of bittersweet with the final result, but it was good for me getting my first start and first goal. The ball just somehow popped out to me. It was a corner kick, there was a scramble in the box and the ball got loose by my foot. I just shot it and it went in the goal."
