Preliminary tryouts to be held in Houston for developmental squad

HOUSTON, TX.- Houston 1836 team officials, in conjunction with the South Texas Youth Soccer Association (STYSA), the ST Amateur; and all the Hispanic Soccer Leagues in the Houston area, will be joining forces to hold preliminary tryouts this Saturday February 11th, with the purpose of possibly filling two positions in the Houston 1836 developmental squad.

Houston 1836 will work hand in hand with the Hispanic Soccer Leagues of the Greater Houston Area, and with STYSA/ST Amateur, in order to recruit the best 28 players during the upcoming preliminary tryouts.

Houston 1836 Head Coach Dominic Kinnear will then evaluate all 28 players on Sunday February 19th.

Although the final tryouts do not guarantee any type of contracts with the Major League Soccer, the local players will have the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of the Houston 1836 coaching staff, and possibly earn the chance to be part of the developmental squad.

"We know there is great talent in the Greater Houston Area. We have a couple of developmental squad positions open; and we wanted to give the best players the opportunity to showcase their talents to the coaches," said team president, Oliver Luck.

"Those positions are open to anyone in the country that meets the guidelines; but we know there is a great deal of talented players in the Houston area."

The Hispanic Soccer Leagues in Houston that have yet to be contacted in regards to these preliminary tryouts can reach Edward Green, coach for the USF (Universal Soccer Federation), at coachgreen@justice.com.
