Onstad talks soccer, Canada at Laurelwood

San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper Pat Onstad made a visit to Laurelwood Elementary School in San Jose on Monday, Jan. 24, but the 2003 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year did more than just discuss soccer.

The former Canadian national team goalkeeper and Vancouver native was treated to the Canadian National Anthem when he arrived in Mr. Zuparko's third-grade class, and after reading the students the short story Soccer Mom From Outer Space by Barney Saltzberg, the children asked him questions about Canada and his career as a professional. Onstad finished his visit by signing autographs and posing for pictures with all the students.
