COLUMBUS, Ohio - Twelve boys teams and eight girls teams have advanced to the 2004 Ohio High School State Soccer Semifinals and look to move on to the OHSAA State Finals on Friday, Nov. 12, and Saturday, Nov. 13, at Columbus Crew Stadium.
In all, five champions will be determined over the two days, with the boys Division I and III titlists decided on Friday and the boys Division II final and the girls Division I and II championship matches contested on Saturday. Division I is the large-school division in Ohio.
All six boys semifinal games and one girls semifinal game are Tuesday, Nov. 9, with the other three girls semifinal games played on Wednesday, Nov. 10. The 10 semifinal games are played at various sites around the state of Ohio.
Friday's doubleheader will be followed by a tripleheader on Saturday. On Friday, the boys Division III match kicks things off at 3 p.m. and the nightcap will feature the Division I finalists at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, the boys' season concludes with the Division II title match at 11 a.m., before the girls take center stage. The girls Division II championship will kick off at 3 p.m. and girls Division I honors will be decided at 7 p.m.
Tickets for each of the five matches are priced at $7 and are available at the Crew Stadium Box Office (614-447-2739) and all TicketMaster outlets (614-431-3600) starting on Thursday, Nov. 11.
Both the boys and girls tournaments, which began in October, are open to all schools fielding varsity soccer teams in the state of Ohio. There are 536 boys soccer programs and 457 girls programs competing in 2004.
