Nuñez looking forward to big year

Ramon Nunez helped the Honduras U-20s qualify for the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship.

FCdallas.net had the chance to sit down with FC Dallas midfielder Ramon Nuñez and talk to him about his training camp, things he can still improve in his game and goals he has set for this season.
FCdallas.net:
There are fans and media talking about you right now as the team is in Spain. What would you say to them regarding how everything is going for you during this training camp thus far?
Ramon Nuñez:
"Things here have been going great. Everybody here has a positive attitude and I think we just have to keep that attitude going. We'll continue to work hard and be ready for opening day. I think this year I tried to come into the season extremely fit. I've always worked on my ability, including my shooting, but the fitness is something that I have been working on the most."
FCdallas.net:
Colin Clarke has played you quite a bit as an outside forward this spring. How is that working out for you?
Nuñez:
"I'm used to playing inside in the middle, but Colin gives me the freedom to go inside when it's necessary. I think it's been working out great for me. When I get out wide, I have the opportunity to dribble and make something happen, and when I come in the middle I can do the same. I enjoy it right now and will continue to work hard at it."
FCdallas.net:
What do you still need to improve in your game and how do you go about improving those things?
Nuñez:
"Well, there is always room to improve. Like I said before, I'm always trying to improve my fitness. With my positioning on the field, I will keep working hard at that and will do my best to become the best soccer player I can. If I continue to work on those things, I think I'll have a good season."
FCdallas.net:
You helped Honduras qualify for the U-20 World Cup and played well for them. How can you take that experience and translate it to helping yourself in Dallas?
Nuñez:
"As soon as I came back from the U-20 team I tried to put what I had learned over there into practice with FC Dallas. I came back with a lot of confidence that was gained during that tournament and I always do my best at trying to incorporate that here in Dallas."
Fcdallas.net:
You left SMU after playing there one season and were drafted by Dallas. What led you to your decision to leave school and enter Major League Soccer's SuperDraft?
Nuñez:
"It was a decision that was made by my family and me because we felt it was the best thing for me to do. We had the opportunity to stay in Dallas and also continue to pursue my career in college. I am still taking classes and looking forward to getting my degree."
Fcdallas.net:
What are some goals you set for yourself or for your team this season?
Nuñez:
"For the team, the goal is to win the MLS Cup. For me, it's doing whatever I can to help out the team in areas that I can help out in. Making plays with assists or goals and things like that are the things I want to contribute and is my personal goal for this season."
