Moving forwards: Metros, Crew deal

Wolyniec Razov

who had served as the Metros' "super sub" and a part-time starter in two-plus seasons with the team -- heads to the Buckeye State. At the Meadowlands, Wolyniec had been part of a revolving door forward line, where no fewer than eight different players have lined up in the past two years. With the Crew, Wolyniec is likely to return to his role coming off the bench.

"It is tough to leave my hometown and a team I have played with for the past few seasons," said Wolyniec, a native of Staten Island, N.Y. "But at the same time, change is a part of this game and I am excited to be coming to an organization like Columbus. I look forward to this opportunity and hopefully I can come in and help the team."

Provided he is fit and healthy, Razov is likely to start for the Black-and-Red, who have a speedster to complement the fifth all-time leading scorer in league history in Togo youngster Abbe Ibrahim. The Metros also have forwards Youri Djorkaeff, Sergio Galvan Rey and Mike Magee at their disposal, though Magee and Djorkaeff have proven equally effective at midfield so far this season.

Razov leaves the Crew having made just seven appearances and five starts for the club. His opening day performance earned him his only appearance on the Columbus scoresheet. In his second stint with the MetroStars, Wolyniec made 63 appearances and 42 starts, registering 17 goals and eight assists.
