MLS announces team award winners

Major League Soccer today announced the winners of year-end awards that recognize individuals and teams for outstanding contributions off the playing field.


MLS Cup finalists Los Angeles Galaxy, who led the League with an average attendance of 24,204 fans per game, claimed the most executive awards including Executive of the Year - Doug Hamilton and Account Executive of the Year - Tim Martin. The Galaxy also had the Sales Director of the Year in Michael Hitchcock as well as the Tickets Sales Team of the Year Award.


Five additional awards winners will be named in coming days:


Wednesday, November 9 - Sierra Mist Goal of the Year
Thursday, November 10 - Honda MLS Most Valuable Player
Friday, November 11 - Radio Shack All-Time Best XI
Saturday, November 12 - 2005 Radio Shack Best XI and Commissioner's Award


The League's 10th championship game - MLS Cup 2005 - will be played on Sunday, November 13 from Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas. The game will be televised nationally on ABC Sports live at 3:30 p.m. ET and broadcast to over 120 countries worldwide via ESPN International.
