SECAUCUS, NJ - The MetroStars announced Friday the re-design and re-launch of their website, MetroStars.com. The new site is part of the newly created MLSnet.com Internet Network, created in a partnership between Major League Soccer and Sports On Earth, LLC, which involves eight Major League Soccer teams and the official League site.
The new and improved MetroStars.com will give fans access to extensive content, including an impressive multimedia section that will allow fans of the "Red and Black" to view live and archived video.
Through their partnership with MLS, Sports on Earth will provide original editorial content, audio and video highlights, design and technical support as well as marketing and sales support to MLS and each of the eight clubs whose site is a part of the network.
The change comes on the heels of MetroStars.com being rated as the top Major League Soccer website in a study conducted by the University of Massachusetts and Street & Smith's SportsBusiness Journal. The study rated all 131 MLB, MLS, NBA, NFL and NHL team websites. The MetroStars overall ranking was higher than some other NBA, NFL and NHL team sites that are located in the New York metropolitan area. The study used four areas to rank teams: content, design, commerce and fan interactivity.
The MLSnet.com Internet Network made its debut with the re-launch of MLSNet.com to kick-off the 2004 Major League Soccer season in April. The eight MLS teams whose sites are a part of the network are: Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew, Dallas Burn, D.C. United, Kansas City Wizards, Los Angeles Galaxy, MetroStars and the San Jose Earthquakes.
